Abstract

Background and Aim: The effects of divorce are more severe than the depth of psychological-emotional damage from the beginning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy on anxiety, depression and happiness in divorced women.

Methods: This research is applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of method with pre-test-post-test design with control group and experimental group. The statistical population of this study was all divorced women with generalized anxiety disorder in Tehran. The sample size of 30 divorced women with generalized anxiety disorder was selected by convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. They did not receive training. Data were collected using Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck and Stear Depression Inventory and Oxford Happiness in Pre-Exam and Post-Exam. First, 4 briefings were held for divorced women. Before starting the training, pre-test was performed on the experimental groups as well as the control group. Then, based on short-term intensive scanning psychotherapy in the experimental group, 11 sessions of 45 minutes were performed. After the training, the post-test was performed on the experimental and control groups to obtain the difference from the independent variable on the experimental group. The research data were analyzed by analysis of covariance in SPSS22 software at a significance level of 0.05.

Results: The results of univariate analysis of covariance showed that independent variable training (short-term intensive scanning psychotherapy) could lead to a significant difference in the mean scores of dependent variables (anxiety, depression and happiness of divorced women) at the post-test level. The error is 0.05. The effect of short-term intensive scanning psychotherapy on the variables of anxiety, depression and happiness of divorced women was 0.32, 0.65 and 0.36, respectively (P = <0.05)

Conclusion: The use of short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy can help reduce anxiety, depression and improve the happiness of divorced women with anxiety disorders.
