KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF ATAXOPHOBIA AMONG UNDERGRADUATE DENTAL STUDENTS IN CHENNAI- A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY
Abstract
Introduction: Ataxophobia is the fear of untidiness or disorder is a common phobia seen in most people. It can be considered a better habit than a phobia . A mild level of this phobia is good for an orderly life.
Aim: The present study aims to assess the prevalence and awareness of ataxophobia among dental students.
Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 dental students of a private dental college in chennai. Questionnaire consisting of 10 questions was circulated through google forms . The results were formulated using spss software version 23.0. Descriptive statistics were used to plot the pie charts and chi square analysis was done for correlation graphs.
Results: 53% of the study population consists of males and 47% of the study population consists of females. . 30% of the study population consists of 1st year students , 21% represents 2nd year students , 27% represents 3rd year students and 22% represents final year students. 23% of both males and females experience extreme anxiety when exposed to untidy places.. There was no statistically significant difference between gender and ataxophobia (Pearson Chi- square value is 0.308 , df value is 1 and the p value is 0.579(>0.05)which is not significant).
Conclusion: The study concluded showed moderate levels of ataxophobia among first year dental students and third year dental students.
