KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF NOCTIPHOBIA AMONG UNDERGRADUATE DENTAL STUDENTS- A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

Introduction: A fear is a sort of anxiety problem that is characterized by an active and euphoric reaction to an item or event. The affected individual may encounter a wide range of side effects. It is recommended that specific phobias can be treated with exposure therapy where the person is introduced to the situation or object in question until the fear resolves. The present study aims to analyze the awareness and level of noctiphobia faced among dental undergraduates.

Materials and methods: A Cross-sectional survey-based study was conducted among hundred dental students. A questionnaire was prepared about the main reason and cause behind the phobia. This was distributed to the participants via an online platform that is  Google forms. The data were collected and analyzed using SPSS software. And the method used for analysis was descriptive analysis.

Results: From the statistics, we can analyze that the majority are not positive about noctiphobia but they might have responded yes to some questions. In this study, there are more female respondents than male respondents. Statistical procedures used were excel tabulation, the perspective analysis used were Pie chart, Pearson test, bar graph, statistical software SPSS.

Conclusion: We can conclude that noctiphobia is an anxiety disorder that is experienced in every individual, however, this fear can be easily overcome by sharing with family and friends rather than by medication.
