KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF SCOLIONOPHOBIA AMONG UNDERGRADUATE DENTAL STUDENTS- A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

Introduction: An anxiety disorder associate degree irrational and exclusive panic reaction. The worries are often of a particular place, situation, or object. Scolionophobia is also known as didaskaleinophobia which means fear of going School.

Aim: To know about the knowledge and awareness of scolionophobia among dental students.

Materials and methods: Among 103 dental students from saveetha dental college and hospitals in chennai city participated in the survey conducted on google forms. The data was statistically analysed with the help of microsoft excel and SPSS version 23.0. Bar charts were analysed and observed.

Result: Out of 103 people, there were totally 52 males and 50 females who experienced fear of going to school. During childhood days scolionophobia was experienced by 44.12% in the total population. Chi-square test was done for correlation of survey with gender.

Conclusion:  From the present study, it has been assessed in this study that mostly males are more prevalent than females. The most effective treatment for scolionophobia is self-hypnosis methods compared to medications.
