The Impact of Information Technology on Equal Educational Opportunities

Abstract

Today, the major societal issues facing education can not be discussed without considering new information and communication technology . The problem is not only in teaching , but the main problem is the general attention to how to access knowledge . Therefore , the issue of information and technology and predicting its impact on knowledge and education in the future is very important . The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the use of information technology and the development of equal educational opportunities in education in Karaj. The statistical population consisted of all employees of education departments in Karaj. For this purpose, three education departments were considered in the center, east and west of the city. The sample size was 361 according to Georgian and Morgan sample size determination table. The sampling method was cluster sampling. Researcher-made questionnaires of information technology and equal educational opportunities were used to measure research variables. The validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by professors and experts and the reliability of the questionnaires was assessed by a preliminary test. Reliability was obtained using Cronbach's alpha test for information technology equal to 0.81 and equal opportunity for educational questionnaire equal to 0.89. Data analysis was performed based on statistical data with SPSS software . Pearson correlation coefficient test was used to determine the correlation of research variables. Multivariate regression was used to evaluate the effect of variables as well as the prediction test. Finally, the theoretical model of the research was examined by analyzing the path. The results showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between the use of information technology and the expansion of equal educational opportunities in education in Karaj. There is a positive and significant relationship between the use of information technology and maximization, equalization and elitism in education in Karaj. Also, access to information resources and educational materials, distance education and visual display of course content are 43% effective in expanding equal educational opportunities in the city. In the meantime, the effect of visual display of course content is greater. Also, the results of the agreement table showed that schools located in the west of the city are in a better position in terms of development and growth of equal educational opportunities than areas located in the east and center of Karaj.
