AWARENESS ON INTEROCCLUSAL RECORDING MATERIAL AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS- A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Materials that have been intended for intermaxillary recording procedures include plaster, modeling compound, waxes, acrylic resin, zinc oxide-eugenol pastes, rubber base and silicone materials. Newer ones include polyether and polyvinyl siloxane for ideal maxillomandibular registration.

AIM: The aim of the study is to analyse the awareness about inter occlusal recording material among dental students.

MATERIALS AND METHOD: This cross-sectional study was conducted among dental students. It was a questionnaire based study. The survey was conducted among 100 students. Data was entered and analyzed by Chi square test using SPSS software.  The results were tabulated in the form of pie charts and associative graphs.

RESULTS: About 95% respondents have known about inter occlusal recording material and the rest haven’t. About 93 % of the respondents have used it in their dental works and others don't use it and they don’t know about it.The person chi square test value 0.385. p value (>0.05) stating that it is statistically not significant.

CONCLUSION: Thus study concluded that awareness on  interocclusal material is very less among UG students. Awareness on interocclusal materials and their uses must be taught among UG students.
