Abstract

Introduction: Heat cure resins have been introduced into the field of conservative dentistry to minimize the drawbacks of the acrylic resins that replaced silicate cement (the only aesthetic materials previously available) within the 1940s. In 1955, buonocore used phosphoric acid to enhance the adhesion of acrylic resins to the surface of the enamel. Colour vision is the capability of animals to perceive differences between light composed of various wavelengths independently of sunshine intensity. The aim of the study is to check the color stability of different commercially available carbonated drinks.

Material and methods: Ten pellets of heat - cure ( dpi ) were prepared with unified shape, diameter, and thickness ( 10 x 10 x 4 mm ). We used a vita spectrophotometer for color stability before immersion of the sample. % of samples we immersed and 5 samples in mountain dew. Again after 7 days, color stability was checked. Pre and post immersion color stability values were compared. All the data were analyzed by using SPSS version 21.0 (IBM Inc, Armonk, NY, USA ).  Using the Chi- square test data was analyzed for the association graph . Bar diagrams were used to represent output variables.

Result: In this present study, we have found a pre and post immersion graph of color stability of mountain dew and fizz. Where we have taken the mean of both pre and post impressions. The percentage values for the color stability were presented as a bar graph for 5 acrylic resin specimens which were immersed in the mountain dew beverage and fizz for 7 days.

Conclusion: Within the limitations of the present study the following conclusions can be drawn, there was a greater deviation of color stability values in the mountain dew group when we compared to the fizz group after immersion in carbonated beverages.
