PREVALENCE OF DOMATOPHOBIA AMONG UNDERGRADUATE DENTAL STUDENTS - A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Abstract

Background:-  People have different phobias which they didn't even know existed in them, such as Domatophobia, which is fear of home. More research is not available regarding Domatophobia among dental students. However till date, to the best of our knowledge, there is no literature available on Domatophobia. We are going to see what changes are visualised in their lives and how they have been able to lead their lives.

Aim:- This study is  to analyse the prevalence of Domatophobia among dental students.

Materials and Methods:-   An online cross-sectional survey was conducted by using google form and to assess the degree of domatophobia in total 98 students responded to only 75 of them from dental college students, in chennai.

Results: This study found that 58.70% of male and 41.30% of females were 18 years old. 48% of students had been afraid in the enclosed place. 50.7% of students felt unsafe when they were alone at home.

Conclusion: It concluded that 48% of students were afraid in the unclosed place. People with excessive levels change their lifestyle due to this phobia. Further, more attention should be given for the early detection and intervention for treatment of domatophobia.
