Abstract

Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the awareness of safety protocols in dental laboratories among dental UG students.

Introduction: Awareness of safety protocols in dental laboratories helps in infection control, proper utilization of machinery or dental materials, even simple dental procedures including extractions, scaling and root planning, dental crown preparation and root canal treatment which may cause transmission of blood-borne diseases.

Materials and methods: The present study was based on questionnaires and was distributed among dental UG students.

Result: Third and fourth year students are well aware of the safety protocols in dental laboratories as compared to the first and second year students.

Conclusion: Awareness of safety protocols in dental laboratories would help the students in improving their knowledge and also it would help in the prevention of diseases which are transmitted through blood.
