A Prospective Study On Adverse Drug Reaction In Anti-Asthmatic Drugs Prescribed In Asthma Patients At A Tertiary Care Hospital.

Abstract

The Aim Of The Present Study Was To Describe The Pattern And Severity Of Adverse Drug Reactions In Anti-Asthmatic Drugs Prescribed To Asthma Patients At A Respiratory Department In A Tertiary Care Hospital. Methodology: The Study Was Conducted In Adult Patients With Bronchial Asthma Between September 2018 To March 2018. For A Period Of 7 Months. After Getting Approval From The Human Ethics Committee, In 894 Prescriptions Were Screened, In That 568 Prescriptions Were Selected As Per Inclusion Criteria For Analysis. Adverse Drug Reactions (Adr) Was Documented In Causality Assessment Naranjo’s Scale. Results: In Our Study Most Of The Patients Were In The Age Group Of 61-70 Years. Males Constituted 60.2 Percentages And Females 39.7percentage. Beta 2 Agonists Were The Most Commonly Prescribed Anti Asthmatic Drug Group. Adverse Drug Reactions Were More Common In Elderly Females. Tremor Was The Most Common Adverse Drug Reaction Encountered. Most Of The Adr Comes Under Possible Category Of Naranjo’s Causality Assessment Scale And Were Mild. Conclusion: In Our Study, We Observed That The Incidence Of Asthma Was More Common In Males When Compared To Females. Adverse Drug Reactions Were Encountered In 34.6% Of Patients And Were More Common In Elderly Males. Tremor Is The Commonest Adrs Reported. According To The Naranjo’s Scale.
