Identifying Values Of Vietnamese Culture Through Funeral Rites

Abstract

Purpose Of The Study: On The Basis Of Ancient Documents And Actual Surveys, The Article Systematically Analyzes Vietnamese Funeral Rites, Clarifying The Need To Perform These Rituals In The Spiritual Life Of The Vietnamese People. Through This Analysis, The Research Shows The Values These Activities Bring To The Spiritual Life Of People, Contributing To Enriching The Cultural Values Of The Vietnamese People.

Methodology: Based On The Philosophical Point Of View, This Study Uses Two Main Methods: First, Researching Ancient Documents, The Studies Of Researchers Discussing Funeral Rituals; Second, Carry Out Field Surveys In Several Provinces And Cities In Vietnam; Directly Participating In Funerals Was Organized, Conducting Interviews With Dead Families And Professional Funeral Workers, The Number Of Interviewees Is 350 People

Main Findings: The Article Analyzes 5 Worship Rituals For The Dead, The Origin Of Those Rituals, The Philosophical Values That These Rituals Bring To Human Life; The Study Also Pointed Out The Changes In Both The Positive And The Negative Of These Rituals In The Impact Of Globalization And Presented Some Problems For The Researchers To Continue To Discuss And Study.

Applications Of This Study:This Research Can Be Used In Teaching At Universities That Teach And Research Vietnamese Philosophy, Folk Beliefs And Culture; In Addition, It Is Also Used As A Reference In Research Institutes Specializing In Faith, Religion And Culture. At The Same Time, It Can Provide Basic Knowledge For Cultural Tourism Promotion Activities.

Novelty/Originality Of This Study: This Research Can Help Domestic And Foreign Readers To Better Understand Vietnamese Funeral Rites; Aware Of The Positive Values To Promote In Life, At The Same Time Realizing The Negative Impacts It Brings In The Human Spiritual Life To Know How To Limit, Have A Spiritual Life Suitable For Modern Life.
