Role of transformational leadership in Covid crisis: How it is different from other leadership styles

Abstract

Transformational leadership can be defined as the type of leadership that brings positive changes among individuals and creates value among the purposes that need to be achieved. Transformational leadership includes a set of practices that is employed for developing relationships between leaders and employees (Jaskyte 2004). It causes changes in the social systems as well as individuals. Covid crisis has brought a lot of difficulties in people's lives as well as the lives of the employees. It was needed to change the leadership style for motivating the people. The purpose of transformational leadership in the Covid crisis is to improve the economic as well as the social condition of the people through improving the team. Transformational leaders are completely different from the other leaders. They lead through example. As compared to other leaders they are more confident, courageous, and more possessive. In the Covid crisis, there was a need for a special kind of leadership to motivate the people, aware of the people as well as support the people economically, socially, and mentally. The special style of leadership in the Covid crisis that needed to fulfill the demand of people as well as reduce the fear among the public is done by Transformation leaders.
