An Analysis of Work-Life Balance Policies among Employees in the IT Sector of Nagpur City

Abstract

Work-life balance plays a key role in employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. Employees tend to put in huge amount of efforts to manage and maintain their performance levels sometimes at the cost of their health, family and personal development. Thus, companies should focus on creating an environment wherein employees feel that they are valued and should be able to spend quality time for their own growth and family well-being. The present study incorporates the information compiled from a structured questionnaire applied on employees in the IT Sector of Nagpur City to analyse the effectiveness of Work-Life Balance Policies being implemented in their respective companies. The study concludes that there is a lack of communication among employers and employees leading to gaps in understanding related to policy, work pressure and expectations. Thus, leading the employees to feel under-valued. The study also recommends that the findings from the survey are correct in that companies should create policies for personal growth and provide counselling services to the employees so that they can better deal with the issues that they face.
