Discussing Current Knowledge On Saponins: Structure, Sources And Cytoxicity
Abstract
Various saponins, their anticancer efficacy and methods of action, as well as promising research in the previous two decades, are discussed in this review, along with future study recommendations and future research directions. The saponins extracted from diverse plants have a cytotoxic effect on cancer cells and induce apoptosis and autophagy, according to a number of researches on the subject. A number of useful qualities are found in saponins as well, such as antioxidant capabilities. On the basis of their therapeutic and preventive actions, saponins can be considered during anticancer treatment. This review summarises the present state of knowledge on different saponins, their anticancer potential, and future research recommendations.
