Abstract

Depression and oral health issues are common problems in the general population. The relationship between oral health and mental health must be elucidated in order to improve these factors in the public. This study investigates the association between depression and oral health related quality of life among software engineers in Chennai.

Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in Chennai with 964 software professionals. Mental depression was measured using Beck’s depression inventory.

Results shows correlation between Dental caries, OHIP and levels of depression. The correlation between OHIP and levels of depression was found to be negative. The negative correlation denotes that as the level of depression increases oral health related quality of life decreases.

Conclusion: In conclusion, there was a significant association between depression, and oral health related quality of life among Software Engineers the software in India.
