Abstract

Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus are managed with systemic steroids; this makes them vulnerable to various opportunistic infections. In this case report, we will discuss one such fungal infection which developed during the course of treatment of covid-19 disease. A 77 year old male patient with a previous history of nephrotic syndrome was tested positive for covid-19 disease. During the course of treatment he developed rhino-orbital mucormycosis. It is a medical emergency and requires immediate medical attention. For good prognosis of mucormycosis, early diagnosis is mandatory.  It is very important for physicians to be cognizant of such secondary infections in patients of covid-19 disease as they can prove to be potentially fatal if not managed promptly
