Abstract

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 is the medical disaster that is still ongoing across the world. Novel coronavirus causing infection has wreaked havoc and devastated entire medical and socioeconomic structure. Multispectral impact can be found among all the section of the population especially among rural communities. 

SUMMARY: Rural areas were said to be safe from the medical catastrophe brought about by the COVID-19. But the non-pharmacological intervention like lock down and movement restrictions made closure of livelihood options available to rural households. Even farming was being difficult as too many rules and regulations were imposed. Post-harvest the product was finding it difficult to get into market as restrictions were in place. These induces anxiety and other mental illnesses among rural population making them adversely impacted. Students were struggling to find resources to fulfill their study obligations. Social distress was prevalent and uncertainty about the future made it worse. 

CONCLUSION: As the second phase of COVID19 is targeting rural households more, health infrastructure must be enhanced so that availability is not a problem. COVID19 have wide impact on the body and needs proper rehabilitative care post recovery which is currently lacking.
