Critical Evaluation of Amlapitta and Acid Peptic Disease

Abstract

Acid Peptic Disease is increasing day by day and this leads to detoriation of the digestive system and resulting in development of many diseases. According to Ayurveda Mahasrotas is considered as the seat of all diseases and Amlapitta is the common encounted problem of Mahasrotas. The present study is all about to examine the relationship between Amlapitta and Acid Peptic Disease.

Material and Method : 100 persons were randomly selected from Wardha city and they were interrogated thoroughly with prevalidated case record form on Bruhatrayi and Laghutrayi and data was recorded for further analysis.

Observation and Results: Out of 100 subjects 80 subjects were suffering from Amlapitta and 17 subjects where suffering from acid peptic disease and 3 subjects where suffering from both. Even though it is practice to put the modern medical term as equivalent to Ayurveda but it has been observed that these two are different.

Conclusion: Amlapitta and acid peptic disease are different entities however many sign and symptoms appearing similar.
