Abstract

In psychiatry and Psychology suicidal ideation is also called as suicidal thoughts. Suicidal thought is thinking about suicide or planning about doing suicide. It does not include actual suicidal attempt .According to WHO 800 000 people die because of  suicide every year and it is one person every 40 seconds. Suicide is the biggest issue all over the world and occurs throughout the lifespan. ObjectiveTo compare the suicidal ideation among male and female studentsand to associate the findings with selected demographic variable

Materials and Methods:A quantitative descriptive study was conducted , using Self- Structured suicidal ideation questionnaire among 300 students which were chosen for the study through Non- probability purposive sampling technique from the selected Junior college in Pune city

Results:.The suicidal ideation among male is around equal percentage as 35.3333% sample are having Emergent/moderate risk ideas, 63.3334% are having low risk ideas and 1.3333% are having Urgent/High risk ideas. the suicidal ideation among female is around equal percentage as 34% sample are having Emergent/moderate risk ideas, 65.3333% are having low risk ideas and 0.6667% are having Urgent/High risk ideas.
