Evidence Based Ayurveda Drugs For The Management Of Cerebral Palsy

Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a lifelong condition characterized by spasticity, paralysis and abnormal control of the movement further leads to secondary manifestations like contractures and bone deformities, if not managed properly. Available management principles are Physiotherapy, antispastic drugs like Baclofen, Diazepam, Clonazepam, Dantrolene Sodium, Tizanidine, Botulin toxin; and anticonvulsive drug-such as Sodium Phenytoin, Phenobarbitone and many other as per need. Spasticity ultimately managed with surgical intervention Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). These management principles presents with some potential side effects, if they are regularly used. Ayurveda drugs are always presented safe and productive management to different kinds of disorders. A variety of Ayurveda drugs have research-based shreds of evidence acting to manage symptoms that are common in cerebral palsy.  This article aimed to present a cumulative management approach especially with oral Ayurveda drugs towards different presentations of cerebral palsy. The article is prepared by searching various journals and websites like Pubmed, scopemed, google scholar, and DHARA presenting evidence-based research data and collecting them under one roof providing doorstep material for further researchers.
