Abstract

This article is based on a mouth stick appliance for patients with quadriplegia. The method for fabricating a simple and inexpensive system that will be used in clinical and laboratory settings is described in this article which will execute everyday tasks using the patient's dentition. The specifications for such a mouth stick appliance have been addressed, as well as the precautions that must be taken during the design process. The utilization of such appliances have been highly acknowledged and extremely pleased with the outcome. There are good results in which the quadriplegic patients are able to improve his quality of life by drawing, painting, and even typing with the device. Since using the mouth stick appliance, the patient's self-esteem and social acceptance is heightened. Although the mouth stick has a basic form, it is a precision appliance, like other dental equipment. The ingredients will set you back around five pounds sterling. Taking impressions and placing the device takes around 30 minutes for the surgeon. The expert spends around three and a half hours putting the appliance together. The mouth stick provides a significant amount of incentive for severely disabled tetraplegic patients since it allows them to perform little tasks and participate in social activities. This modified design of mouth stick achieves the goal of sticking to everyday work routines.
