Impact of Covid-19 infection on individuals with Vitamin D deficiency and eating disorders: A Systematic Review
Abstract
vitamin D deficiency and eating disorders are increasing diseases of the growing world in both developed and under-developed countries. Both conditions are associated with specific comorbidity and consequences. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with decreased immunity and increased respiratory infections. Similarly, eating disorders are associated with an altered nutritional state that predisposes individuals to health threats
Research question: The study will reach its goals by answering the following questions:
What impacts does vitamin d deficiency have on covid incidence and severity
What impacts do eating disorders have on covid incidence and severity
Methodology: the search strategy included the formation of keywords by PICO format. The keywords were searched on electronic databases like EMBASE, Cinhal, Medline, and Science Direct. A total of 5 experimental studies were selected after following inclusion and exclusion criteria. A data extraction table was formed. Critical appraisal of the studies was carried out by CASP checklist. Data analysis was carried out by thematic analysis.
Results: key themes suggested that vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased frequency and severity of covid infection. Nutritional deficiencies are also associated with increased frequency of covid incidence.
