Abstract

Big Data offers numerous opportunities to higher education institutions. This paper investigates the ascribes of big data that is pertinent to higher education institutions which explores the elements impacting the selection of enormous data and examination in higher education institutions and looks to build up the restricting variables frustrating the advantagesin the utilization of big data in higher education institutions in Ethiopia. The researcher surveys the main qualities and shortcomings of the higher education institutions in Ethiopia to make the SWOT (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats) examination to decide the circumstance concerning the selection of the big data projects. The outcomes from the SWOT examination demonstrated that the quality purposes of Ethiopian higher education institutions are acceptable and suitable pointers for the implementation of big data projects that will fortify them, diminish shortcomings and dispose of related dangers. The paper presumed that big data offers higher education institutions in Ethiopia the occasions to profit by their data assets on electronic media to be utilized to improve education quality and guide students, schools, colleges, and universities accordingly; and subsequently, it is a great idea to suggest these institutions do have interests in big data project and individuals to profit by this scheme.
