Abstract

Sports relationships are different from other types of relationships as an object of legal regulation. This difference is primarily due to the fact that the sports branch is divided into two major sectors, professional and amateur sports. Because in the regulation of amateur sports relations there is a priority of normative legal acts adopted by the state, professional sports are carried out on the basis of the tradition of self-regulation. For this reason, in the legal regulation of relations in the field of professional sports, the normative legal acts mainly provide general rules for the definition, implementation and protection of human rights and individual rights. These rules, in turn, determine the rights and guarantees of athletes without affecting the specifics of professional sports, the organization and conduct of sports competitions, the procedure for determining and awarding winners. Today, it’s actual to study the boundaries of the normative-legal regulation of professional sports, as well as, the relationship between legal and non-legal sources.
