Effectiveness of an Education Program on Teachers’ Knowledge about First Aids at Primary Schools in Al-Najaf City

Abstract

Background: Knowledge of first aid is an urgent issue for all people to help and rescue all people in general, and primary school teachers in particular due to children's lack of awareness of risks and their excessive activity. As a result, those teachers should be well-knowledge in first aid and emergency procedures in order to save the lives of the students.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program on teachers’ knowledge about First Aids at primary schools.

Methodology: A quasi-experimental study is conducted during the periods of  October 20th 2019 to Jun 9th 2021. The study was carried out in ten public primary schools in Al-Najaf  city , five schools in the northern sector and five schools in the southern sector. By non-probability " accidental sample" of (50) teachers, data were collected for pre-posttest and analyzed a descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis approach.

Results: The results depict that the knowledge of primary school teachers improved significantly after implementing the educational program on the study group teachers, while the control group teachers' knowledge did not change.

Conclusion: The study found that the importance of the proposed educational program for primary school teacher.
