Abstract

English is typically considered equivalent to other subjects rather than a tool used for communication purposes by learners in Indian linguisticscenario. Rather than communication skills, English language training courses tend to be test and performance orientated. Classroom involvement also steers pupils to passive programmes like tests. Teachers who use a curriculum-based syllabus may disregard the course goal in favour of test results. This post seeks to give more insight on the actual teaching atmosphere. The obstacles faced by second language learners in Bihar (India) are detailed here.
