A Case Report On Post Covid-19 Positive status with SARI (12/25) With Newly Diagnosed Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract
COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2, a single-chain RNA virus with a particle size of 120-160 nm. Covid-19 can affect people of all ages, but the elderly and those with a history of chronic disease (co-morbidity) are more likely to be affected and have more severe complications. One of the risk factors for COVID-19 infection is diabetes mellitus (DM).
Clinical findings: Patient came with the complaint of generalized weakness since 4 days, loss of appetite and breathlessness since 2 days, loss of smell, fever, cough, chest pain.
Main diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, and outcomes: A 75 years old patients came with complaint of weakness, breathlessness, loss of appetite, fever, cough, chest pain and after all investigation is done, patient was diagnosed as post covid-19with newly type 2 Diabetes mellitus. The patient was subsequently given antiviral, antibiotic, and insulin therapy, as well as having her blood sugar levels checked. Patient’s covid-19 report showed negative after 13 days of hospitalization. She was shifted to general ward for the treatment of DM and her blood sugar is stable.
Conclusion : Patient was diagnosed as post COVID-19 patient with SARI and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus. This case demonstrated that comprehensive glycemic management and blood glucose monitoring had positive treatment effects on a diabeticCOVID-19 patient.
