Abstract

Aim: To analyse the awareness level about fixed partial denture among dental students in a private dental college in chennai.

Materials And Methods: A cross sectional survey was conducted among dental students of a private dental college. A Self administered questionnaire was prepared and circulated through an online platform. The responses recorded were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS software version 23.0.

Results: Total study participants were 100, out of which 24%  of study participants were males and 76% of them were  females. Awareness about the basics of FPD is more, while in detail knowledge is poor for beginners while that of the 4th year is moderate.

Conclusion: There is a good level of awareness about the basics among all the years. A little detailed knowledge is least for first years due to lack of pure clinical and clinical exposures. This can be solved with better clinical exposure and by making convenient changes in the curriculum.
