Calcium and vitamin D play an essential role in maintaining bone homeostasis. However, the role of calcium and vitamin D in regulating osteoporosis progression and reducing the chances of bone fractures is not fully understood.</p><p><strong>Objective:</strong> The present study aims to evaluate the risk factors and role of vitamin D and calcium in regulating the progression of osteoporosis.</p><p><strong>Study Design: </strong>A retrospective study was conducted ar Indus Medical Collage Tando Muhammad Khan Pakistan, medical records of patients diagnosed with osteoporosis from June 2020 to June 2021 were used in this study. Demographic data of patients and T-score of patients were assessed. Association between osteoporosis and patients’ medical history was evaluated. The role of calcium and vitamin D in the progression of osteoporosis was also assessed. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 23.0.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>In this retrospective study of osteoporotic patients, 60% of patients had chronic disease and 20% of patients had a family history of osteoporosis. A significant association is found among the patient with chronic disease additionally supplemented with calcium/vitamin D supplements and the patient who don’t take any calcium/vitamin supplement while no significant association is found between chronic disease with calcium-D supplement and patients without disease and supplements.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>From these results, it is concluded that calcium/vitamin D supplementation has a positive impact the bone density and delay the progression of osteoporosis.</p> ER -
